I’m getting ramped up for our Home Gathering (core group meeting) tonight at 7:30pm. We are in the second part of Nehemiah 8 and will be talking about the Festival of Booths and discussing how passionate the people were for God’s word.

We will also talk about how its pretty significant that in this passage of text the people had just stood through a six hour time of teaching the day before and now, the very next day the heads of the families are coming together to learn even more about God’s word. I don’t know about you, but that speaks volumes to me about their dedication to learning about, and growing in God.

Today is Monday, and on Mondays I communicate. I write blog posts like this one, I send out an email to our core team to get them thinking about tomorrow night and to see who is coming, I send out an update to our prayer team. Then I hit facebook and connect with our community, I email people about specific things, I make phone calls, and I connect with key people on google talk. At the end of the day its all a blur but I think its important because being in contact with our community is one of the most important components of doing life together.

Yesterday’s lunch was great, very encouraging, no money commitment though. However, I’m hoping to get in touch with several people through this person, so that might be a great answer to prayer as well.

Today I’m hanging out with my wife and kids. Its a good day.

Today I’m heading downtown to meet a friend for lunch to ask him to be a prayer and financial supporter. Real prayer support is my primary goal, because God does great things when people pray, but the financial side definitely won’t hurt any. The guy I’m meeting is great and very encouraging, so I’m not too terribly nervous, but then again, asking for money is never easy and isn’t my strong suit.

So, today is a day to muscle up, get over some insecurities, and be bold for the task that God has given us.

Last night was our weekly Home Gathering (core group meeting / Bible study). It was great. We had several of our regulars out and they were missed, but we still had a great time hanging out and talking about the Word.

We studied Nehemiah 8 and got into great conversation about the teaching structure of the church, and how the Bible should have a profound impact on our lives. I think next week we will have a lot of our regulars back and some new people checking us out. If things keep growing at this rate we will have to move to a new location, which is a problem that I love having!
