Today I met with Matt Evans of Rock Bridge Church in Dalton. Matt is a really smart guy and really knows what he is doing. Matt helped me to see two very important things.

The first thing that he helped me to see is that in planting a church I have to be who I am, utilizing the specific gifts and abilities that God has given me. I have been learning this lately anyway, but Matt really drove it home for me.

Secondly, he reminded me (in a kind way) that sometimes I’m overly analytical. I guess the fact is, sometimes you have to go with a good plan and shoot from the hip rather than wasting a ton of time honing the perfect plan.

I would call today’s meeting a pivotal one. Thank God for men like Matt.
